The Man from S.P.U.D.

The Organization

In the days of the Cold War (i.e. pre-Windows 3.1) a band of determined individuals believed that engineering software like PSPICE didn't need to cost more than a thousand dollars, and decided instead to form The Man from S.P.U.D. to bring high-quality software to engineers and students for under $100. These first fearless individuals kept their number secret and practiced covert development techniques to maintain the secrecy of their exact size and strength from those dark forces that would quell their activities. The cause was just, but the initial work very difficult. In the end it was sheer determination of will not to crack that turned the tide.

Today, this organization is coming in from the Cold, and offering those lessons and skills to people looking for the very best. The Cold War is over and now it's time for the spooks to pass on what they've learned.

The Agents

While they still keep their number a carefully guarded secret, the organization has a number of very highly skilled agents. Among the founding band is drbob an agent with more than 25 years field experience, and an expert the the fine art of shitze gamu - the ancient Chinese art of documentation. This along with his American-based classical education makes him an excellent undercover man.

Another of the founding group is the ever enigmatic Sprung Canary. He is known throughout the Eastern Block as The Magician and his skills in demolitions is only surpassed by his spectacular skill in design.

As more of the organization establish safe identities, they will be posting their contact information here. For now it is sufficient to know that their number is vast, and their willingness to sacrifice for the cause, complete.

The Tools

Along with sharing their wisdom and field techniques, these special breed of people are willing to share their tools of the trade. Some of these tools look like ordinary source control tools, or development libraries, but when used properly can not only incapacitate a victim, they can build robust, scalable systems in a bare minimum of time.
